About FocalScore

FocalScore started from a simple frustration: most website tools check one narrow thing — speed, or keywords, or a broken link — and hand a small business owner a wall of jargon with no idea what to do next. Meanwhile the ground is shifting: buyers increasingly ask ChatGPT and Perplexity for recommendations, and a site an AI can't read simply doesn't show up in the answer.

So we built one tool that answers the three questions that actually decide whether a website earns customers:

How we score

Your grade comes from the checks that apply to your site — up to 395, across 9 weighted categories. Most are measurements: homepage load time, missing page titles, broken links, accessibility issues, and whether AI crawlers are allowed in. A handful, such as whether your homepage says plainly what you do, are judged by an AI model on every scan, and those findings say so. Some measurements come from live services — Google's speed test above all — and vary a little from run to run, so the same site can score slightly differently on different days. Every finding shows the evidence behind it and the exact fix. The optional AI Advanced Report adds a strategic, written layer on top.

Each category earns its share of the score from the checks in it that ran: a check that passes earns its weight, and a warning or a failure earns none. A category with nothing it could check is left out, and the others are scaled up to fill its place, so a check we could not run never costs you points. These are the shares:

The letter grade follows the score: A for 90 and above, B for 80 to 89, C for 70 to 79, D for 60 to 69 and F for below 60. A plus or a minus marks the top or the bottom of a band: A+ from 97, A from 93, A- from 90, B+ from 87, and so on down to D+ from 67 and D from 60. There is no D- and no E.

Speed is measured on your own page. When a site sends phone visitors on to a different address, the report says so, and it reads Google's desktop test of your own page rather than grading the page they were sent to.

What you actually get

The report is page by page: a scorecard for each page we crawl, and under it every finding with the measurement behind it and the exact change to make, ordered by how much difference each one makes. Where a check cannot gather its evidence — a page that timed out, a source that refused us — it says so and stays unscored rather than guessing at a verdict. Nothing in your report is invented to fill a gap.

On WordPress you can connect your site and have FocalScore apply a batch of the fixes for you instead of only describing them. On every other platform the same fixes arrive as ready-to-paste snippets with the file or setting named, so they are still a job you can hand to whoever builds your site. The scan and the full report are free. The AI Advanced Report is a one-off purchase and carries a 30-day money-back guarantee; Monitor and Agency are monthly subscriptions for re-scans and client sites, which you can cancel at any time.

Who's behind it

FocalScore launched in 2026. It is built and operated by AstroLabix, a studio focused on practical web intelligence tools for small businesses.

Who it's for

Small-business owners and the people who build their sites. Findings are written in plain language, ranked by impact, and easy to hand to a developer. Try it free — no account or card required to get your score.

We also write up what the scan usually turns up in particular trades: logistics, healthcare, home services and professional services.

Questions before you run one? Use the contact form or email info@focalscore.com — a person answers, usually within a business day.
